ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING.  OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  1. Work closely with Assembly Superintendent and Distribution Manager to provide day to day work direction with job orders to employees, and helps assign duties.
  2. Set performance goals and project deadlines that align with the company’s larger plans.
  3. Assist plant supervisor with delegating work to employees, tracking progress and providing constructive feedback throughout projects.
  4. Responsible for assisting with holiday season gifting program at 2nd assembly facility.
  5. Step in to managerial and job duty roles if Assembly, Distribution and Plant managers are unavailable.
  6. Assists with coordinating assembly activities to ensure on time delivery and cost effective production, along with maintaining the quality of products meets customers’ standards and specifications.
  7. Address problems with work quality, issues between employees and projects in an effective and timely manner.
  8. Serve as a link between subordinates and upper management.
  9. Confers with other Supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  10. Will assist in employee development and coaching as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • College degree plus 2 – 3 years’ supervisory experience and/or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, and the ability to convey a positive and professional image of service and support to employees at all levels of responsibility in the Company.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills required particularly in oral format.
  • Ability to lead and develop employees.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility when appropriate.
  • Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals and order specifications.

Material Handler Shipping and Receiving – 1st Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, yard or warehouse by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.

  1. Operates industrial fork lift truck to load and unload materials and product to/from trucks and
    trailers, checking for proper material, count and quality.
  2. Utilizes the production schedule on forklift computer and/or the shipping Pick List and follows oral instructions to ascertain which orders will be staged, loaded, unloaded or warehoused.
  3. Loads product for customer pickup and prepares common carrier and UPS, SPEE DEE Fed Ex deliveries for shipment.
  4. Loads materials into trailers properly to prevent shifting or damage in transit, installing stabilizer bars as
    needed.
  5. Rebuilds units, replaces broken banding and generally improves damaged units to meet shipping
    requirements and GNC quality guidelines.
  6. Checks in raw materials received, visually checking for damage or other problems, re-tags units with the
    proper Load Tag as needed and stages in designated area.
  7. Checks in finished product from vendors, using the check out sheet for that order, re-tags unit with the proper bar code tag and stages in designated area.
  8. Stacks and rearranges product to make the best use of available space.
  9. Checks finished units coming down the auto bander line for neatness, uniformity, load tags and proper
    banding.
  10. Notifies production supervisors and production material handlers of the arrival of outstanding orders.
  11. Notifies production scheduler of any order discrepancies
  12. Keeps raw material and finished product storage areas and aisles neat, clean and orderly.
  13. Informs supervisors and production scheduler when trucks have arrived and what product is needed for production and shipping.
  14. Uses production run schedule on forklift computer to stage raw material in production area for next day run.
  15. Keeps machine lines stocked with raw materials following production run schedule.
  16. Uses Bills of Lading to enter product received into Order Manager and scans the orders to the bay location.
  17. Follows all quality procedures for accuracy and quality.
  18. Checks forklift fluid levels and safety devices daily and keeps forklift clean and blown down of dust accumulation.
  19. Changes LP tanks safely, following written guidelines.
  20. Regular and reliable attendance.
  21. 3 years of forklift experience both sit down and stand up

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting with set-up and operation of production equipment, and all floor operations requiring handwork. Provides assistance wherever work load requires to aid in the profitable flow of customer product from production through delivery while maintaining customer specifications and GNC quality and efficiency standards.

HOURS

Persons hired are required to be available to work M-F, and be available for any shift: 1st shift – 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, 2nd shift – 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, 3rd shift –10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Overtime is also required which can include 12 hour shifts, some Saturdays and occasionally Sundays. On the job training is provided, no prior experience is necessary.

Prepare all rolls to be brought into the machine with minimum amount of waste. Plugging or de-coring rolls as needed. Cut or slab down rolls in an efficient manner to minimize waste.   • Separate all waste and dispose of properly.
  • Adjust output slides.
  • Follow all Safe Roll Handling procedures; tend up to 16 paper rolls at one time.
  • Make roll splices in an efficient manner as required.
  • Be in constant communication with Crew Leader.
  • Cut & store wooden cores and wedges as needed. Keep extra plugs and accessories in order in the assigned area.
  • Minimize down time during changeovers.
  • Maintain VBoard caliper within specified Company tolerances.
  • Move all finished stock from machines to the designated areas.
  • Make up packaging materials for machines and ensure quality construction.
  • Apply strapping, corner posts, stretch wrap, and labels in a consistent location before moving products to the shipping area.
  • Operate forklift, stretch wrapper, hoist, screw gun and bander as needed.
  • Use specified Company #’s, Customer #’s, and packing material as required.
  • Assist operator as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

  2. Studies, evaluates and organizes daily work list received from specialty & finishing supervisor to determine maximum efficiency in order of runs.

  4. Sets up and adjusts machine to accurately cut, glue, slot, bundle and unitize corrugated sheets.
  5. Runs machine to produce product to proper GNC and customer specifications.
  6. Inputs total piece, finished product, unit and scrap counts into work station computer.
  7. Directs and works along with assistant to complete set-up procedure and production run in the most efficient time and manner for each order on equipment assigned to operate.
  8. Performs assistant operator duties on taper, stitcher, and slitter.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general direction, perform freight-checking, spot trucks, load and unload rolls, finished product pallets and all other materials. After review of production schedules, will stage raw materials to production work centers with required rolls, corrugated cases, etc. Will operate roll clamp trucks and forklifts safely to perform shipping and receiving functions, finished goods storage, the staging of the production equipment and overall raw material flow. Will ensure that product shipped and received is verified against pertinent documentation such as bills of lading, purchase orders and invoices. Will maintain the dock and entire facility to remain clean and orderly.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recommends and assists in implementing improvements to all operating procedures. Strives for continuous improvement at StrataGraph
  2. Drives roll clamp and.or forklift to safely transport materials received or shipped by StrataGraph
  3. Understands how to use computer system and the forklift scanning devices (guns), which enter and release finished goods from bin locations and also stage freight
  4. Receive against purchase orders within the computer system, with focus upon confirmation of MSDS Sheet(s) required for all Hazardous Materials incoming.
  5. Has the knowledge and skill to author and print accurate Bills of Lading correctly representing StrataGraph freight
  6. Be capable of assisting the front office staff with “emergency” expedited shipment scenarios that develop after the Traffic Supervisor or Warehouse Coordinator has departed the building. Know how to communicate with and select a freight company for such an expedited shipment. Know the telephone numbers to call in order to communicate with outside warehouse (non Great Northern staff) to ultimately confirm availability of and next, “pull” requested finished goods from the appropriate warehouse. Author the appropriate paperwork to track such shipments and provide on-time shipment to customer per the instructions from our customer and CSR. Report such expedited shipments to Traffic Supervisor.
  7. Can perform physical inventory confirmation using computer reports generated by StrataGraph system
  8. Assist with down piling and labeling of outers on the Folder Gluers
  9. Deliver supplies and raw materials to all work centers on the production floor
  10. Maintains proper logs and inventories specific to Finished Goods by correct and consistent use of scanning bar code equipment on forklifts and other equipment
  11. Share information from shift-to-shift
  12. Reads and understands Job Tickets, Roll Stock Reports, Finished Goods Reports, Raw Material Reports, Purchase Orders, etc.. within StrataGraph’s software system
  13.  Verifies content and accurate count of material received against original orders
  14. Operates equipment such as Forklifts and Roll Clamps; ensures that equipment is in safe working order; and oversees equipment preventative maintenance programs and daily inspections of said equipment as required by OSHA
  15. Oversee inventory of Propane tanks use on S/R equipment
  16. Manage Baler waste and baler room, kill rolls, gaylords and trailer load-out waste
  17. Manage pallet wrapper and poly-wrap stock for wrapper. Wrap Finished Goods pallets delivered from production area and route pallets to correct staging per delivery destination and/or outside warehouses. Critical to confirm routing with zero errors.
  18. Confirms final truck shipments are staffed and baler room is maintained with an open delivery ramp ready to accept new bales
  19. Promotes safety throughout the organization
  20. Brings forward any unresolved issues in a professional manner

REQUIREMENTS:

High school equivalency with 3-5 years experience in a Shipping/Receiving dock environment along with Fork Lift or Roll Clamp experience.

HOURS:

3rd shift: Sunday through Thursday, 10 pm – 6 am, with frequent opportunities for overtime. Friday rotating schedule.

POSITION SUMMARY

Great Northern is welcoming candidates for full-time production employment at our Appleton facility. This position will operate or assist in the production of corrugate and instore display products.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

 Must hold a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands for manual dexterity; reach; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

HOURS

 Persons hired are required to work a M-F rotating shift assignment of: 3rd shift – 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, 2nd shift – 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, 1st shift – 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Overtime is also required which can include 12 hour shifts, many Saturdays and some Sundays. On the job training is provided, no prior experience is necessary.

 

Compensation

 Starting wage is $17.22/hour and after a 45-day probationary period, pay will increase to $21.97/hour.
