Maintenance Supervisor / Planner

The Maintenance Supervisor/Planner is responsible for supervising, scheduling, planning, and implementing all maintenance activities in the facility in order to maximize equipment effectiveness and availability while following established safety, environmental, and regulatory practices and procedures.


  1. Primarily responsible to supervise, create, plan, and organize the daily activities of the maintenance department and will be called on to assist in supervising the production departments.
  2. Ensure all personnel adhere to company safety standards, policies and procedures. Insures all staff correctly uses and wears safety equipment as required. Also insures that all safety inspections are completed as required and ensures adherence to company policies.
  3. Conducts performance evaluations and coaching with maintenance employees. Counsels employees regarding job performance and provides recommendations for improvement as needed.
  4. Ensures that maintenance issues are efficiently and effectively addressed while working with maintenance personnel or other GNC personnel.
  5. Champions continuous improvement initiatives and lean principals within the maintenance department and organization.
  6. Provides daily direction, follows up on assignments, and assists in troubleshooting or repairs.
  7. Monitors and performs equipment inspections of maintenance activities in the facility for safety and workmanship.
  8. Establishes preventative and predictive maintenance procedures, determines the frequency of work tasks, and follows up with any recommended changes.
  9. Communicates with Production to prioritize work and ensure all equipment is available and functioning properly.
  10. Works with contractors, suppliers, and vendors in project planning and execution, maintaining a safe work place, and verifying work quality.
  11. Assists in newly purchased equipment spare parts lists, machine guarding, maintenance schedules, and establishing preventative maintenance tasks.
  12. Administers the CMMS program and maintains responsibility in documentation, accuracy, and follow up.
  13. Confirms all parts and labor for one-time work is identified and available.
  14. Partners with Purchasing for parts inventory and tracking.
  15. Analyzes daily production reports and downtime detail reports, identifies trends and develops action plans to improve performance.
  16. Monitors and trains employees’ technical competence.
  17. Other duties as assigned.


  1. The position requires a minimum of nine core work hours, additional hours may be required.
  2. Ability to work weekends and holidays
  3. Works closely with outside contractors scheduling work, communicating / enforcing policies, and providing work direction.
  4. Serves as management team member by suggesting beneficial changes in personnel policies, work methods, machinery and equipment, products and services and all aspects of operations.
  5. Remains current on changes in policies, procedures and product information, attending authorized training programs and seminars.
  6. Assists in machine troubleshooting, repair, and provides technical training when needed.


Maintenance Supervisor/Planner must possess the ability to supervise skilled workers with a wide variety of experience in plant operations. They need to posses excellent troubleshooting skills, technical knowledge of production equipment both, mechanical and electrical, computer controlled operations, and have the ability to motivate maintenance personal. Maintenance Supervisor/Planner must be able to plan and coordinate several projects simultaneously, work closely with Production, or Contractors, and generate ideas that can lead to reduction of cost and improvement of work processes. It is also necessary to have excellent communication, problem solving, organizational, and moderate to advanced computer skills.

Candidates need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, display a positive attitude, have a strong work ethic and demonstrate effective leadership.  Three years of maintenance supervision experience with a background in electrical and mechanical operations is required.


Work is performed both inside and outside.  Environment includes dust from corrugated board, heat from steam, and noise from machines.  Working long hours and various shifts may be required. Office/clerical work is also performed in this position.


Monday-Friday 7am-4pm with weekend and holiday coverage. Some on call hours may be required.
