POSITION SUMMARY:

Assists with the development of new structural designs, standard and creative, in accordance with customer design requests using CAD system.  Works with Designers and Design Managers to be able to suggest proper board material strength using Packaging Engineering methods to ensure structural integrity of package.  Assists in creating palletization specs for all orders and potential orders.  Cuts, scores and glues samples on various materials using cutting table and manual techniques.  Ships out CAD and production samples as requested.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in designing standard and creative structural packaging deisgns using Artios CAD software, in accordance with customer needs and expectations
  2. Fills in all essential design information on container design/specification request forms.
  3. Operates and maintains computer sample maker/plotter.
  4. Layout all carton designs in CAD for manufacturing
  5. Creates all 1-up bleed files for plating and coating sleeves.
  6. Send all appropriate electronic files needed for artwork.
  7. Creates all TOPS/CAPE palletization specs.
  8. Fills in all essential design information on container design/specification request forms.
  9. Maintains department’s laminated board inventory on a daily basis.
  1. Manages Sales and Customer samples for shipping and/or storage daily.
  2. Prepares samples for shipment to customers.
  3. Regular and reliable attendance.

Additional RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Knows, understands, and follows all general rules and office policies and procedures.
  2. Attends authorized training programs.
  3. Responsible for maintaining appearance of design room.

HOURS:

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

REQUIREMENTS:

Individual must be able to operate a PC and have basic knowledge of CAD system along with a 2 year Associates Degree in Drafting/Design or equivalent; have excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills; legible handwriting to record information and fill out forms, ability to perform mathematical calculations involving adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions, decimals, and percentages; and integrity regarding confidential and proprietary information.
