Lean Processes Ensure Fast Response

The Racine facility recently invested in a new EM Automatan litho label mounter to ensure the highest-quality results with even faster turnaround times.

The machine, the EM model manufactured by Automatan, guarantees that Great Northern Corporation can respond to customer needs with the maximum performance characteristics customers demand. In addition to faster response times, customers can also be assured of better registration results that produce the highest-quality product in the shortest amount of time.

“One of the primary benefits of the new litho label mounter is greater flexibility in the label weights we can run,” continued Michels. This flexibility allows customers the options they demand when producing consumer packaging and display work.

As part of the installation, which was completed in January, the Racine facility implemented lean manufacturing techniques in the manufacturing cell to ensure process efficiencies and cost-effectiveness during the label mounting process.

“As part of our lean manufacturing initiatives, we examined the way our work area was organized, how this machine functions, and how the work flow progresses at this stage of the process,” said Michels. “Our goals are to maintain high quality standards while ensuring the fastest response time in the industry.”
