Great Northern Corporation will be exhibiting in Booth #2619 and has entered the following displays in POPAI’s Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest. This annual competition recognizes the most innovative and effective marketing at-retail displays and programs in the industry.

• American Girl Permanent Book Display Spinner was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

The main objective was to consolidate the American Girl books into one location at the retail channel, creating a one-stop shopping focus in the bookstores. The display has created a one-stop shopping platform that effectively merchandises numerous American Girl products. Early sales figures have shown a marked increase due to the consolidation.

• Candle-Lite Willow Lane Floor Display was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

In creating a permanent environment for the new fragrance collection, it was imperative that the display not visually overwhelm the product and that it create an open, inviting platform in which the product is highly visible. The display can be field-assembled quickly and is easily shopped from four sides. Sales have surpassed all goals.

• SCJ Glade Kroger Holiday Pre-Built Floor Display was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

This display eliminated the need for in-store assembly and loading, offering a faster start on sales. The mobile pallet made it easy to execute the display in store and greatly increased speed to market. High-impact branding and graphics created strong visual appeal.

• Scotts Roundup 56 CT PNG Pallet Display was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

Primary objectives were to create a full pallet system that can be shopped from four sides, that reduces material and costs while remaining 100 percent recyclable and that maintains or increases performance over previous pallet display. This display support over 450 pounds while keeping product clearly visible and 360-degree accessible. The display is 100 percent recyclable and arrives at retail shrouded and ready to shop in 30 seconds.

• Walgreens Holiday Signage Program was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

A combination of elements that can be hung from the ceiling and positioned on counters/shelving creates a visually dominant holiday ambience. Use of specific unifying graphic elements, high-impact colors/imagery and positioning of signage work together to direct consumers to defined areas and create product awareness of the celebrity fragrances.

• Watkins Spice and Extract Display was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

This four-shelf display, which holds several sizes of spice tins and extract cartons, can either hang as a sidekick or sit on a matching base as a floor stand. It ships with product and a separate base and header. Sell-through was very successful. Many stores went through multiple 40-count shippers during baking seasons.

• Justin Charles Merino Wool Mobile Floor Display was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

Mobile display imparts a sense of richness to the product by creating a permanent display look while utilizing temporary display materials, including litho-wrapped fiber poles, litho-wrapped corrugated for the base and shelves and litho applied to board headers. Display has space by the header to allow a DVD player to play an informational video. Hooks provide easy access to hanging product, encouraging customers to touch and feel the merchandise.

• Super Mario Galaxy Standee was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

A major objective was to bring attention to the fact that the Super Mario Galaxy game can now be played on the Wii hardware platform. This was accomplished by placing the emphasis on the highly recognizable Mario character, by utilizing motion to entice consumers toward the display and by adding several other key elements of the game into the display. A unique design differentiates the display and conveys a sense of fun, reflecting the product.

• Metroid Prime 3 Corruption Standee was entered in the POPAI Outstanding Merchandising Achievement (OMA) awards contest at GlobalShop.

The goal was to bring attention to the release of the new Metroid Prime 3 Corruption game and announce that it can now be played on the Wii hardware platform. The curved structure and multi-dimensional design add visual interest  while the lug on the Metroid character is showcased to maximize brand recognition.
