POSITION SUMMARY
Technical graphics position with the primary responsibilities of developing plate and press ready art based on customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and material constraints. Works with sales, customers, and Technical Services Manager to solve packaging problems presented by customers. Services design requests in accordance with GNC service, quality, and efficiency standards by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING. OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED.
- Evaluates, through pre-flight processes, all incoming customer artwork for production effectiveness.
- Recognizes and fixes the common problems with files provided by outside sources for print jobs. Knows where to find assistance to solve less common problems (vendors, press crews, Technical Services Manager, etc.)
- Recognizes and fixes (or recommend fixes for) art issues that will be a result of the process used to print a job.
- Finalizes pre-flight of customer provided artwork working within the capabilities of GNC equipment and processes. Recommends alternative processes where appropriate.
- Works with design to determine printable areas and “live” areas on graphic items.
- Assists in the management of graphic files. Works with design, graphics, and tech services, to develop and maintain a reliable, logical system that facilitates the fast and accurate movement of information internally and externally to our vendors and customers.
- Provides final art files to tech-services for the compilation of factory specifications (E-Tickets and Spec. Cards).
- Provides properly assembled final art to the digital press crew, to vendors for print jobs and to outside vendors for litho, screen and digital printing.
- Communicates work status, daily schedule, day to day issues, and problem resolution encountered in the process of getting jobs ready for press.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- As needed, develops sketches for customer presentations and customer prototypes, works with graphics coordinator to develop sales tools, flyers, and advertisements, and prepares technical illustrations for use in set-up instructions for display orders.
- Remains current on changes in policies, procedures, and product information.
- Attends authorized training programs.
- Assists Technical Services Manager with special projects as assigned.
- Knows, understands, and follows all general rules and office policies and procedures.
- Understands and keeps updated on machine manufacturing capabilities.
- Understands and keeps current with all applicable software needed to perform job duties.
