APPLETON, Wis., Aug. 3, 2010—Great Northern Corporation's Consumer Packaging & Display will be exhibiting at the 2010 Shopper Marketing Expo, Oct. 5-7, 2010, in Chicago.
Great Northern will showcase its award-winning point-of-sale consumer packaging and display capabilities in Booth #302 at Navy Pier. Winners will be announced at the 2010 Awards Reception on Wednesday evening.
Great Northern's entries this year include:

Kleenex® Hand Towels Carton: This stylish package delivers 60 single-use paper hand towels in a paperboard dispenser that can sit on either a towel bar or a counter. The package has a high-design appearance with a 45-degree angled top that gives it the look of a permanent hand towel dispenser, a shiny embossed rub-resistant surface, and a film overwrap that leaves no residue when removed. An inside printed window aids single-pull dispensing and provides additional in-use brand recognition. Great Northern won the National Paperboard Packaging Competition Innovation Award this spring for its work on the package.

Kaytee® nature's BENEFITS® Retail Packaging: When Kaytee recently launched its nature's BENEFITS line of small pet food, it wanted a package with a natural look that reinforces the wholesome all-natural ingredients in the product while demanding attention on the shelf. The package combines the shelf impact of vibrant graphics and imagery with the simple, natural look of kraft paperboard, consumers to see the product, underscoring the purity of the ingredients. The paperboard is made from 100-percent FSC-certified controlled wood sources. The box also is 100-percent recyclable and can be used by pets for foraging, shredding and tunneling.

Mattel® TS3 EC Half Pallet: Designed to exude fun and to leverage the widely popular Toy Story 3 movie, the display features a unique multi-plane header that wraps around the body of the display, has branding viewable from 360 degrees, and panel graphics on the display's lower body. Nintendo® Game Stop® Hanging Sign: For the national launch of the Nintendo® DSi™ portable gaming device in all Game Stop retail stores, a hanging display was developed to prominently fit into the Game Stop environment – a sea of colors and game packaging. Positioned on Game Stop's 24" slate wall section, the unit captures consumer attention upon entering the store. The tombstone-shaped sign uses compelling white-and-black graphics to identify the major features of the product. The DSi product and accessories are displayed under the sign, allowing consumers to quickly recognize the product area at store level.

Nintendo® Punch-Out!!™ Floor Stand: This display features four-side visibility and alternate two-side shopability display, designed from corrugated and printed SBS. A die-cut figure of the iconic game character, Little Mac, was suspended away from the display to permit airflow motion and create impactful three-dimensional appeal. Super-dynamic graphics of the game's character are punched out of the display to create additional impact. Ease of access to the product increases engagement. Nintendo has decided to use the same structure for three other national launches.

Verizon USB760 Mobile Broadband Display: Equated to a visual roadblock of information that cannot be overlooked or bypassed, the display, specifically designed for Staples®, is created to sit in the main aisle and to dominate in both scale and messaging. The sleek, curved design catches the consumer's eye through the use of the Verizon Wireless trademark red color. Cleverly positioned chit cards and brochures are located on both sides of the display. Logos are strategically positioned on all sides for maximum branding. The header card is changeable and can be updated for maximum graphic flexibility. The display encourages interaction and product education.

SC Johnson Raid Max® Bug Barrier 27ct. Quarter Pallet: While most barrier products are for exterior use only, Raid Max Bug Barrier can be used on both indoor and outdoor surfaces. This display communicates the product's capability to create a double shield of protection. A lenticular flip image panel, integrated into the home-shaped header, creates stopping power within the aisle. The well-known Raid® bug appears to be running from the home, further enhancing the three-dimensional nature of the header. Raid yellow is heavily utilized to help enhance product visibility and to reinforce brand identity. A coupon for immediate savings further entices customers to purchase the product.

3M™ Back-to-School Label Quarter Pallet: During the high-traffic promotional back-to-school period, creating a display that provides a store-within-a-store experience helps to capture those shoppers who may not have looked to a product's planogram as a destination. For 3M Post-it™ Notes and Permanent Labels brands, a three-sided shopable structure display, designed for Office Depot® stores, offers consumers a rich product assortment conveniently located in one place. The bold brand colors on each side of the display allow for quick product identification of the product. Large product-in-use imagery quickly conveys function. Clear plastic gates keep the product upright while allowing important product information to be viewed.

|
3M™ Scotch® Holiday Sleigh: A four-sided pallet display, featuring non-denominational imagery of a whimsical holiday sleigh, allowed 3M to present a product mix of Scotch brand tapes and holiday gift wrapping accessories in well organized, multiple shelves/compartments at Office Depot. With high-profile in-store main-aisle placement, the display garnered superb consumer attention and produced double-digit sales growth compared to the previous holiday season.

|
ACCO™ Quartet® EnduraGlide® Market Display: Created for Staples®, the minimal-footprint, freestanding display design allows placement in multiple locations, including in-aisle and at the checkout. The two-sided configured merchandiser with vertical shelving arrangements creates visual buzz through the eye-catching oversized marker lug. Mounted to the side of the merchandiser, the marker lug visually announces what's on the display. Its size demands attention from the consumer. Simple and effective header graphics emphasize the product's newness and its relevant features and benefits.
|
IMS/Gatorade® Floor Display: A simple column structure creates a powerful platform to merchandise Gatorade's three-step system of energy and hydration products. The 01-03 reversed-out copy visually shouts the simplicity of the program and contributes to the stopping power needed in General Nutrition Center environments. A dramatic full-body image of Usain Bolt, Olympic gold medalist, is used as a billboard graphic along the side of the display, resonating with ultimate athletic effort and endurance. The three stark-white shelves that extend beyond the display invite consumers to further investigate the product. The display is shopped from two sides, and graphics are clearly visible from a down-line position. |
