Great Northern Corporation Wins Platinum Award from Design of the Times
Company brings home a total of five awards for creative in-store marketing displays

Appleton, Wis. Oct. 9, 2009—Great Northern Corporation's Consumer Packaging & Display won the platinum award for best in show in the mass merchants category and four additional awards from the 2009 Design of the Times Awards.

Entries were judged on creativity in design and engineering, innovative use of materials, compatibility of the display with its retail channel, brand enhancement capabilities, and realization of sales and marketing objectives. Winners were announced Oct. 7, 2009, at the In-Store Marketing Expo in Chicago.

Great Northern's award-winning entries included:

SC Johnson OFF! Clip-On™ 36-count Floor Display earned both the platinum mass merchants award for the overall competition and a gold award in interactive displays. The display exemplifies experience marketing with a push-button-activated audio description and demonstration of the new Clip-On insect control product's fan. Easy to execute in minutes, the display comes with a loaded tray with pre-attached winged panels.

SC Johnson OFF! SC Johnson OFF! PowerPad® Lantern and Refill Pad Floor Display won gold in the mass merchants category for temporary freestanding displays. An LED simulated flame in the display lamp creates a three-dimensional experience in depicting a relevant usage occasion. A paperboard tab on the lamp highlights the location of the PowerPad. Scan bar coding incorporated into the trays aids retailers in restocking inventory as it sells.
American Girl Grocery Spinner Display American Girl® Grocery Spinner Display earned silver in the supermarket/grocery non-food items category for permanent freestanding displays. Quality materials and finishes reinforce the American Girl® brand and guarantee a long retail display life. The four-sided display, with its small footprint and lazy-Susan base, fits conveniently in an aisle or near the checkout area.
Kraft Easy Cheese Floor Display won bronze in the supermarket/grocery food items category for temporary freestanding displays. Simulating the product canister, the lightweight display's cross configuration provides significant structure for the heavy product. Litho mounted, die-cut corrugated sustainable components combined with the offset printed .040" SBS tray lips create colorful, eye-catching graphics.
